Telematics
So what is Telematics?
The Dictionary states that Telematics is the combination of 'telecommunication'
and 'informatics'. Telecommunication is derived from the greek word
'tele' meaning far, and the Latin 'communicare' to communicate, to hold
in common.
Informatics is derived from the Russian 'informatika' meaning the science
of information.
In the automotive
industry, telematics refers to the provision of two-way voice and data
communication between the vehicle and information service providers.
Traffiq views Telematics
as a combination of many things including information management, real
time two-way communications and a positioning capability.
