Hi Guys

I wondered if this would be of interest to anyone here?

iSat Ltd has announced a major milestone reached in the development of satellite tracking feed equipment for inclined and Ka satellites.
In January this year iSat Networks (iSat) was awarded a contract by ESA to develop a feed adjustment mechanism, with both manual and motorised operation, to provide improved alignment of Ka-band VSAT antennas and tracking of inclined orbit satellites up to ~±3° in the C, X- and Ku-bands. The inclined system significantly reduces the capital cost of entry to use inclined capacity. With inclined capacity around 50% of the cost of GEO, it service providers with small bandwidths an opportunity to profit from reduced bandwidth cost.

The Ka-band adjustable feed development will provide enhanced RF performance for Ka-band antenna systems and make Ka-band installations easier and more accurate. The unit is available with or without a rear mount BUC bracket which reduces waveguide loss.

The C, X- and Ku-band motorised feed development will provide a simple retrofit solution to enable the tracking of inclined orbit satellites that repays the cost of the tracking system about 10 times faster than currently available Az-El tracking systems.

iSat has carried out tests of the inclined tracking motorised feed using a 1.8 m offset antenna at Ku-band (11.45 GHz) monitoring the beacon on NSS-7 which is operating in a 1° inclined orbit. The tests were conducted at our facility in Cody Technology Park, Farnborough. The beacon power level signal received stayed within a range of 0.5dB. Without tracking, the beacon power level could expect to change by more than 20dB for a 1° miss-point.

The work continues at iSat to provide a non-intervention remote end system, and anyone interested can contact us now for more information.
