Hi, Im looking to test a remote satellite terminal which operates within the Ka Band.

It comprises an iDirect modem using DVBS2 downstream and ATDMA upstream.

Were going to use a test hub to replicate the earth station piece but replicating the satellite communications package is problematic.

If its done at L band then we have no issue but if its done at Ka band then I need specific test equipment.

Does anybody know if there is a piece of equipment available for hire that does the following:
  • Operates within Ka Band
  • Polarisation translation from RHCP to LHCP
  • Frequency Translation from Ka Band Uplink (27.5 – 31Ghz) to Ka Band Downlink (7.2 – 21.2Ghz)
  • Signal attenuation
If anybody can offer any pointers I would be very grateful

You could try talking to Peak Communications in the UK:

They can produce tailor made or off-the-shelf Test Loop Translators (TLT) for a variety of frequency bands.
