freesat - Free digital TV for everyone
freesat was set up to make sure that everyone has the best of free digital TV, no matter where they live in the UK. freesat came together formally in May 2007 as a joint venture between the BBC and ITV. So while we're a brand new service, we've actually been around for a while. In fact we’re a not-for-profit company owned by the nation’s two most popular broadcasters. freesat is a small team of people. We love what we do for you and we enjoy our jobs. We share your passion for great TV and are excited about bringing you the best of free digital TV.
Bringing you 140 great digital TV and radio channels, including high definition (HD) programmes from the BBC and ITV – all for free. But it doesn’t stop there – freesat gives you super fast digital text and enhanced interactivity, as well as digital subtitles and audio description.
With freesat, favourites like BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV2, ITV3, More 4 and Film Four are all yours. There’s no need to choose between different packages. You’ll also get over 30 digital radio stations, so you can listen to live sport, great comedy, music, drama and the latest news. You can buy freesat in-store or online at Argos, Comet, Currys, John Lewis and some independent retailers. After a one-off payment, it’s free forever. Installation:
It’s really easy to get started – just check out the Installation Details here, or ask your freesat approved retailer for more information.
freesat is broadcast via satellite so it’s available to almost every home in the UK. As well as the best of free digital TV, you can also watch drama, natural history, sport and more in breathtaking HD, for free. With freesat, HD programmes are subscription-free, so you get even better viewing at no extra cost. All you need is an HD Ready TV connected to a freesat HD digital box, or TV with freesat HD built in. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy free digital TV, plus free HD programmes, with no contract and no subscription, just a one-off payment. And because innovation is at the heart of everything we do, we’re constantly seeking out new ideas to improve our service and deliver a great TV experience for everyone. We hope you’re as excited about freesat as we are. We’d like to hear from you, so feel free to get in touch. We have some BBC programmes on our local TV Stations on FIJI TV ONE and MAI TV.
I have not tested the UK FreeSat here in Fiji but I would like to know what satellite they are using to beam those signals, the foot print might cover the Pacific Rim including Fiji. If the Foot print covers Fiji than it is good news to start a business installing satellite dish and top boxes for the channels to be viewed. |

They transmit freesat on Astra 2 and Eurobird 1.
Here are some footprints http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/europe.html
Also here are the details of the satellites in terms of TV channels http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html
You can compare these to the satellites covering Fiji.
You may get some of these satellite feeds down there on different satellites but I am not sure.
Hope this helps.
