New Tool for Pointing Satellite Dishes

By Satcoms UK - 24 October 2008

Dish Antenna Pointing & Alignment

New on the Tools page is a tool for obtaining the angles required for pointing your antenna at your desired satellite. Simply, select the satellite from the drop down list, set your location by entering the town, country or zip/postcode or even by entering the latitude and longitude separated by a comma, then press 'Return'. Drag the map, zoom in and out and move the antenna marker to suit.

Antenna Pointing and Alignment ToolThe Tool gives you the Latitude and Longitude of the antenna marker, the elevation and azimuth required to point at the satellite and also the LNB skew angle for the chosen satellite.

This Tool can also be used as a form of site survey in terms of azimuth obstructions but you will still need to check that the elevation angles are not obscured by any tall buildings. This can be estimated just be looking at the elevation angle and looking at the map.

All in all a very handy little tool from DishPointer.
