New Guest Forum for Non-Members
Before talking about the benefits of joining the Satcoms UK Community, let's point out a feature for those who don't...
Sometimes we don't want to have to register on a website just to ask a question. Now you don't have to on Satcoms UK, just go to the
Guest Forum and ask away.
You will have to come back to see if you have any answers because only registered members of the site receive emails to notify them of replies to their questions.
Private Messaging
The old version of the site had the private messaging facility but not everyone realised they could use it. If you are a registered member of the site you can conduct private conversations between members just like sending and receiving webmail.
Events Calendar
Now when you submit to the community you can include the entry in the Events calendar. This is intended for the additional publicity of events which run over a few days or even just occur on one day. Conferences, training courses, exhibitions and other similar events are the obvious choices to make use of this extra publicity.
Image, File and Video
Now you can upload images and pdf files (under a certain size limit) to be included with your submissions. Also, videos can be included by the use of special BBCodes. Here is a good example of how to include a video within your post...
Type [TUBE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhdHkoal31o[/TUBE] or just [TUBE]OhdHkoal31o[/TUBE]
The filename OhdHkoal31o being replaced by the actual You Tube video filename. This also applies to other video sites not just You Tube but if not using You Tube then be sure to include the full URL address to the file.
Uploading files and images is as easy as clicking the icons above the text formatting icons. These are a zip style file link icon, and a picture icon which open new windows to allow the upload and format of pictures and files. Size limits and types apply.
Curriculum Vitae Listings
The previous listings have not been transferred to the new community section so if you had previously submitted a CV then you will need to submit it again. As before you can update it and remove it as and when needed.
